The title is pretty self-explanatory. The song's about the urgent need to reimagine the police force as a way of creating a more just, less oppressive society. The public pay to be policed, we should have the right to choose who polices us and how it is done. Defunding the police means redirecting some (or all) of the funds that go to the police force and directing them towards groups/organisations that are less about punishing, stigmatising and harming people and more about rehabilitating, empowering and empathising with people.

Endemic within the force is a culture of supremacy.
Whether it's man over woman, white over black, class over culture, force over tact... It is a failing. In need of derailing. Defund police.

What do we see throughout history when we assess police.
Aristocrats and capitalists needed a little elbow grease.
So they point to the public to pay for the cops.
Sell us the concept, protect their stock. It is sustaining, in need of derailing. Defund police.
